Hugh’s is located on the 13th floor of the Play Braam building at 73 Juta Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg. The entrance to the building is on De Beer Street, next to the market entrance.

Yes. Hugh’s is a strictly 18+ venue. Valid ID may be requested on entry.


What time do doors open?

The venue is only open on show days, doors open at 18:00.


What time do performances start?

Do I need a ticket to attend?

Yes, tickets are required for entry. Tickets are sold online via Quicket or may be available at the door on the night, subject to availability. We recommend checking online before arriving, as seating is limited and capacity cannot be extended.


Can I buy tickets at the door?

A limited number of tickets may be available at the door unless sold out prior. Advance booking is strongly recommended.


Is seating allocated or first-come, first-served?

All seating is allocated, there is no available standing area. When purchasing tickets online, you may select a specific seat according to the seating plan.

How do we get there? Is parking available?

We recommend ride-sharing for convenience. Limited on-site parking is available and can be secured when booking your ticket, subject to availability.

Is photography or filming allowed?

Can I stand and watch the show?

No, tickets allocate 1 seat per person, we ask that all guests remain seated during the performance. There will be an interval during each performance.


How is the Hugh Masekela Heritage Foundation involved?

The Foundation is responsible for the musical curation of the venue and a percentage of ticket sales go to the Foundation for the benefit of artists & Hugh Masekela's legacy.
